Florida Mom Arrested After Beating Son With Broom and Fork Over Chores, Police Say
A dispute over unfinished chores inside a Florida home has led to serious criminal charges after police say a mother crossed the line from discipline into abuse.
According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, a 37-year-old woman was arrested after investigators alleged she physically assaulted her son during an argument about housework.
What Police Say Happened
Authorities say the incident began in the evening when the mother realized her son had not completed chores she had assigned. Police allege she woke him up to confront him, and the situation quickly escalated from a verbal argument into physical violence.
Investigators claim the mother first struck her son with her hands and then allegedly used household items, including a broom and a fork, during the confrontation. Officers reported that the child had visible injuries consistent with being struck and punctured, which prompted immediate intervention.
Police Response and Arrest
When deputies arrived, they documented the child’s injuries and took statements from those involved. Based on the evidence gathered at the scene, the mother was taken into custody and now faces charges related to child abuse.
The Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details about the child’s current condition, but confirmed the injuries were significant enough to warrant arrest and further investigation.
