Daniel was finishing yard work when his father in law, Frank, stopped by the house to pick up eleven year old Lily for an afternoon together. Frank and Lily had always shared a close relationship. They often visited bookstores, grabbed ice cream, or watched local baseball games together.

Daniel laughed.
