a 5-Year-Old’s Chuck E. Cheese Birthday Party Ended With Families Running for Safety

A celebration for a young child in Ohio turned chaotic and frightening when a violent fight broke out during a 5-year-old’s birthday party at a Chuck E. Cheese restaurant, sending families scrambling for safety.

The incident happened on Feb. 15, 2026, at the Chuck E. Cheese in Sylvania Township, a suburb of Toledo, officials and witnesses say. What began as a bathroom altercation between two adults quickly spilled out into the play area packed with children, according to police.

Witnesses described a scene of panic as the fight spread through the restaurant, forcing guests, many of them families and young kids, to flee from the chaos. One woman told local reporters she grabbed children and pressed them against a wall to try to shield them from the violence.

A 22-year-old man, identified as the birthday girl’s uncle by family members, was seriously injured during the brawl. He suffered a broken eye socket and was placed in a medically induced coma, according to WTVG, the local news station that first reported the story.

Loved ones described their horror at seeing a celebration turn into something their children would never expect to witness. “It was my baby’s birthday,” one relative said. “Now my baby is traumatized.”

Police charged Derrick Jones with felonious assault and Keshawn Fell with disorderly conduct in connection with the incident. Both men have since pleaded not guilty and were released on bond, authorities said.

Chuck E. Cheese management did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the fight or what steps might be taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
