Katy Perry Shares Step-by-Step Guide to Block $10 Billion ICE Funding Bill

Pop star Katy Perry is urging her massive online following to take political action against a proposed $10 billion increase in funding for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Her social media post, shared with more than 200 million followers, lays out a clear step-by-step call to action aimed at blocking the additional funding.

In a series of Instagram slides, Perry broke down what her fans can do, including who to contact and a deadline of Friday, January 30th, just days before the Senate is expected to vote on the spending measure. Her message boils down to a simple civic engagement push: “Who: You. What: Call your senators. When: Now.”

The slides also include a Washington, D.C., phone number for the U.S. Senate switchboard and even provide a suggested script for supporters to use when speaking with lawmakers’ offices. Perry captioned the post with “turn anger into ACTION.”

Why the Push Matters

The proposed funding would add $10 billion on top of roughly $75 billion already allocated to ICE, drawing criticism from immigration activists and progressive lawmakers who oppose expanded enforcement spending. Critics of the proposal argue that additional funding could intensify controversial enforcement tactics, while supporters say the agency needs resources to manage border security and immigration processing.

Perry is no stranger to public advocacy, having previously supported causes like LGBTQ+ rights and endorsed political candidates. Her latest push puts her squarely in the political spotlight and highlights how celebrity influence is increasingly intersecting with public policy debates.
